"Magic is the ability to create something that never existed". - Twisted Tree
Twisted Tree is my pseudonym, it embodies my work in many ways, just like an old tree who has seen it's fair share of life, and wears the scars of battle.
My journey into art began when I went into trauma/drug induced psychosis and I felt extremely misunderstood. I began simply drawing cartoons that depicted the feelings I was having, and doodling for fun. After a few years of doing art this way, I grabbed a woodless graphite pencil and randomly scribbled expression onto a page in a new way. I rendered that image and posted it to Facebook to receive great reviews from family and friends. I began the journey in perfecting this method of creation throughout the times I’ve created art since and I am completely self-taught. It wasn't until the beginning of 2026 that I decided to take my art seriously due to many motivating factors like the comments that I got from social media. After years of perfecting my craft through different mediums, I have found what I love, and what drives my passion for art. I am a traditional artist and have a passion for the unique tradition of making marks on paper that embody "handcrafted" vibes. Every imperfection is a question, every question breeds creativity and creativity is a wellspring of life for my soul. The paper texture, the ink contrast against the charcoal, all of this screams tradition and craftsmanship. I am an artist and an art collector myself and love the community of artists and consumers I have been privileged to meet along my journey. I don't do this for the money, though it's needed, I do this for the craft and the achievement that somebody else admires my work, as I have admired other artists work. I do my best to capture the dark and scary experiences I've had with psychosis, depression and anxiety on paper in a very childlike and expressive way. Thank you for your support and thank you for being here.
-Much love, Twisted Tree.
